The next auction in collaboration between Cambi Aste and Crippa Numismatica to be held on May 14 and 15 presents a novelty: the department offers, exclusively for Italian collectors, a selection of ancient, Greek and Roman coins from old Italian collections (one in particular from the early 20th century) from Magna Graecia, Sicily and mainland Greece, from the Archaic period to the Roman period, which includes both the consular and imperial periods.

In the part of the catalog devoted to ancient coins, Lot 15 (LUCANIA - POSEIDONIA. Nomos, 520-500 B.C. € 1,800.00 / 2,200.00) stands out, depicting Poseidon standing d., bearded, diademed, and nude, holding a chlamys on his shoulders, in the act of hurling a trident. At the 'exergue, display of military armaments placed on two steps. R/ SIRACOSION in Greek letters. Alongside the selection of ancient Greek and Roman coins, the auction will also present a collection of very heterogeneous material selected for great quality, or for topics of current interest. Prominent among them is a collection of beautiful Italian silver shields, dated from the 17th to the 20th century, of great taste, probably among the best specimens released on the market for conservation.
